I was curious about Flow ever since it won best animated movie over The Wild Robot at the recent Golden Globes (even more so when I found out that it involved a cat in some way). Having checked it out, I understand the love it has been receiving.

Flow is a straightforward movie about people trying to survive a post apocalyptic level flooding, except the characters are animals, there are no humans, and there aren’t any dialogue or voice lines beyond animal sounds. There is so much effective visual storytelling done here, building up the world through the environments and conveying character and emotions in each animal. It’s quite an intense and emotional story about trust, survival and connection, with thrilling, stressful and exhilarating moments throughout.

The animation of Flow is fantastic, unique looking with beautiful imagery, a gorgeous art style, and immersive settings. When it gets into the more thrilling set pieces, it is effectively tense and suspenseful.

Flow is a straightforward, beautifully animated, immersive and engaging fantasy adventure film.
